Objectifs du cours

*****Note: This course will be given in English.*****

At the end of the course, the students will be able to:

  • Gain a fundamental understanding of the working principles of different batteries.
  • Learn the most promising batteries including lithium-ion batteries, lithium metal batteries, all-solid-state batteries, metal-air batteries, flexible and wearable batteries, etc.
  • Gain multidiscipline fundamental knowledge in electrochemistry, material science and engineering, and battery prototype assembly and fabrication.
  • Compare different types of batteries, understand their advantages and disadvantages, and assess their future perspective and their specific practical applications.

More information about the course description:

This course will introduce the working principles of various batteries and the fundamental knowledge including battery types (eg, lithium-ion battery, lithium metal battery, all-solid-state battery, metal-air battery, metal-ion battery, flow battery, etc. .), materials design/characterization, battery cell component fabrication, battery assembly, and energy device performance evaluation, etc. Importantly, depending on the battery types and their specific features, the students will understand various battery applications in different fields ranging from portable/wearable electronics, health/medical devices, to transportation like electric vehicles, as well as large capacity energy storage. In addition, this course will also open broad discussions on how well employ battery technologies to benefit our society, economy, and environment for sustainable development.
